For 2010, our annual shutdown week to
melt and rebuild the ice surface will be Saturday June 26 through Sunday July
4. We expect to be open for our normal
schedule on Monday July 5. And if
things go well, we may be open for Family Hockey on Sunday July 4. Check back here or call the rink to
confirm. Progress
Report: Friday July 2 – 12:10 AM – Lines and logos are done. Now we have to “seal” them by
spraying light layers of water over the entire surface.
Thursday July 1 – 8:30 AM – Here’s how the in-ice logos look so
far. More work to go plus we still
need to do all the lines.
Thursday July 1 – 1:25 AM –
Logos underway. Will finish in the
morning.
Wednesday June 30 – 2:45 PM
– White paint is complete. Lines
and logos come next.
Wednesday June 30 – 1:15 PM
– Spraying the first of 3-4 coats of white paint. Lines and logos will start later tonight.
Wednesday June 30 – 8 AM –
Continue building layers of ice. Just
about ready for the base coat of white paint. Tuesday June 29 – 10 PM –
Continue building layers of ice. Drive
Zamboni onto the ice to compress the surface and
knock down any ridges in the sand. Tuesday June 29 – 10 AM –
Spraying layers of water unto the frozen sand to create a flat surface for
the white paint. Tuesday June 29 – 1:00 AM –
Yellow kickplate replaced where worn. Turn chiller back on to freeze up the sand. Monday June 28 – 2:00 PM –
Water clean-up largely done. Melting
went quickly this year due to high temps outside. Sunday June 27 – 8:00 PM –
Ice largely melted, a few areas still slippery. Pulling off sections of old yellow kickplate to be replaced.
Also pulling up sections of rubber flooring to be replaced. Sunday June 27 – 10:00 AM –
Hot outside, doors open, ice melting fast, water clean-up underway. Saturday June 26 - 2:00 PM –
Chiller off, ice starting to melt.
Start pulling up old carpet in the lobby which will be replaced this
week. |
